On June 4th at the Chicago Cultural Center (78 East Washington Street), Rumble Arts Instructor Markeya Howard presents the dances of Africa and the Caribbean. In this demonstration the audience will experience the focus of the dance and how to achieve movements to the rhythms. African Percussionist, D'Vid Brasswell accompanies this presentation with simple techniques along with intricate rhythms from Mali, Gambia, Guinea, and Senegal.
In addition, Rumble Arts will present a filipino-indonesian martial arts demonstration (also known as Kali, Arnis, or Eskrima). These martial arts are a complete system of self-defense. Christopher Dino demonstrates this fighting using the stick, knife, staff and using the whole body as a weapon as methods for self defense.
